When to Shop For Furniture on Sale
Furniture is a big investment and one that will play a role in how your space looks and feels. So when shopping for furniture on sale, it’s important to take your time and look at your options carefully. But, with a little planning and savvy, you can score deals on pieces that will make your home a happy place to live. We spoke with furniture and consumer trends experts to understand what the best times of year are for furniture sales, as well as what types of items you’ll likely find during these events.
The New Year is a great time to shop for furniture on sale, because it’s often the first time you think about giving your space an overhaul and maybe even upgrading some pieces. But, you should be patient as furniture can have long lead times and it may be a while before your new item arrives.
However, there are a few other times of the year that offer good opportunities to snag a deal on something for your home. The months leading up to spring (January, February, and the first few weeks of March) and those leading up to fall (August and September) are times when furniture stores are trying to clear out old inventory before releasing their new lines.
When it comes to outdoor furniture, you’ll also find decent discounts in the summer. The reason for this is because most people are focusing on vacations and outdoor activities during this time of the year. The month of December is another great time to snag a deal on indoor or outdoor furniture, as retailers are clearing out summer or winter colorways and upholstery to make room for new styles.
In addition to these seasonal and holiday furniture sales, you can also find good deals on furniture during regular storewide markdowns and clearance events. Many retailers will reduce the price of their best-selling items as well as their floor samples and scratch-and-dent pieces to make way for new merchandise.
One thing to keep in mind is that if you’re interested in buying floor samples or scratch-and-dent furniture from an online retailer, these pieces will be sold as-is and won’t come with any warranty protection. This is because they’re usually used and refurbished furniture that has been returned to the store for a refund or exchanged for a different item.
If you’re a member of a retailer’s loyalty program, you’ll get access to their private sales. These events are known for offering significant discounts on a variety of furniture products, including top-selling items and best-sellers. Some examples of these exclusive furniture sales include Rove Concepts’ Blessed Friday, Wayfair’s Way Day, and the annual Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales.
There are also a number of online furniture retailers with ongoing furniture sales. Some of these include Wayfair, All Modern, and Cost Plus World Market. The latter is currently having a furniture sale that includes everything from a modular bookshelf to a leather sofa and more, with savings up to 50% off.
